Petra Martinetz Galerie featuring Mary-Audrey Ramirez
December 4, 2025 – February 28, 2026
CLONE
“Clone” hanging from the ceiling, consisting of a metal skeleton covered with vinyl and stuffed with fibers. In her latest works, Mary-Audrey Ramirez experiments with different techniques, materials, and textures, exploring their possibilities. What is real and what is not? In our increasingly digitized everyday lives, it is becoming more and more difficult to draw a clear line between the virtual and real worlds, between fantasy and reality. Deeply rooted in the gaming world, Ramirez creates a prototype video game from which the clone appears to have jumped directly into the EYESONY exhibition space and entered real life. Brought to life in the game, players move through cool, dreamlike ice landscapes, following a constellation of lights and gradually evolving into a spider-like creature. The boundaries between gaming and art, between virtual and real experience, become fluid. The objects printed on satin (clones) radiate the artificiality, glossiness, and slipperiness of fictional beings. Not only is working with computer programs essential to the artist’s practice, but so is working with fabrics and the sewing machine.
Mary-Audrey Ramirez (*1990 in Luxembourg, lives in Berlin) studied under Thomas Zipp at the University of the Arts in Berlin from 2010 to 2016.
